Forthcoming July Events
Jays Black Dragons Judo Club Annual Presentation ~ Friday 25th July 2008 6:30pm to 9:30pm
This years presentation is being held at the Go Wild Play Centre behind Dovers Corner Roundabout in Rainham, Essex. Tickets will be on sale soon Adults £4, Children £2 and Judoka £1. Remember the nominal fee for the tickets is to help us cover the costs incurred by running such an event.
This Years First Prize in the Raffle is a Playstation 3 with Stealth HD-DVD and Ratchet and Clank game, and there will be lots of other prizes available to win on the night as well. A current list of the available prizes can be found HERE
Tickets for the Raffle will be on sale from four weeks before the event.
If anyone wishes to Donate Prizes or wishes to discuss helping out at this event please Contact Donna on either Donna@JaysBlackDragons.co.uk or speak to her during the lessons.

A.E.J.F Local Newaza Competition
This Competition was postponed
The date was used for a national grading instead in light of some of the A.E.J.F's events.
Mardyke Community Centre Festival ~ Saturday 14th June 2008
Our day at the Community Centre Festival was fun packed and busy, with lots of different things going on, along side a Bazzar there was plenty of things to keep the children entertained. JAYS Black Dragons managed 2 displays in the sweltering heat, our first a small display with all the Judoka showing breakfalls, hold dow's and throws, and the second being a more complicated mixed martial arts display showing weapons, self defence and some Gnor Chor Kung Fu Forms.
The Tombola Stall being run by many of our mums did a roaring trade and in total a good £100+ was raised. So a big Thank you from us and a big Well Done to all the children aswell.

Why Start Judo?
Lots of people like judo for its competitive nature, there are many occasions to win trophies and medals.
Other people start to keep fit, make friends or even to build confidence. It is also good for cross training in martial arts as not all other arts include grappling.

What does it involve?
Judo involves lots of throwing and grappling, utilising techniques such as throws, sweeps, holddowns and for seniors armlocks / strangles. Click here for examples.
