Community Welsh Woman of the Year 2004!
FULL STOP 2 BULLYING

COMMUNITY WELSH WOMAN OF THE YEAR 2004
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 19TH 2004 AT
CARDIFF INTERNATIONAL ARENA
The Laura Elisabeth Rhodes
The Award Ceremony

The make up has been done, hair is straight and sleek.  We all await as a black limo arrives outside the house and slowly we all take our seats.  Pink Champagne is passed around and everyone is excited - but Gemma sits in the corner staring out the window - nerves were setting in!
As the journey to Cardiff draws to a close, we pull up outside the Cardiff International Arena for a glittering evening of special people from all walks of life.
First is the champagne reception and slowly people gather into the main hall.  Speaches are heard and people settle down into an excellent three course meal.  The tension can be felt as people sip their coffee when suddenly the music plays and the lights dim....the ceremony is about to begin!

Full Stop 2 Bullying dedicated a rose in Laura's name with Yvonne & Mike's, her dear parents approval.
A rose on earth, who blooms in heaven . . .
Rest in Peace Laura x
Laura Rhodes,
who I dedicated my award to
We slowly went through each category until we reached Woman in the Community.  The lights remained dim and the tension on our table was frightening.  The mini films of each finalist played and then there was just a gold envelope between the winner and the finalist.

I held my breath and hear the Woman in the Community winner is. . . .

I heard nothing, then my families screams brought me back to reality.  I walked to the stage to the sound of 'Reach for the Stars' and as the award is given to me nearly drop it.

I recover and step onto the podium . . . . On no I havn't prepared a speech.  All I remember is thanking my family for their support and dedicating my award to dear Laura Rhodes.

Next it press pictures, few more drinks, networking and dancing.  Two thirty and its time to leave.  As we travel home in our limo everyones excited, I'm still in shock, i don't want the night to end.

We arrive home and go to bed, I try to sleep by the excitement is finally hitting me  I finally drop of to sleep dreaming of teh fantastic night we've just had - my family at my side . . . . SPECTACULAR!
