Bloom for Bond - as a boy - Orlando Bloom has been tipped to play a young James Bond in a new movie series. The series which is backed by Miramax and DreamWorks would be based on a new series of young 007 novels which began this year with Silverfin. In the book set in the 1930s, a teenage James Bond spends a holiday at a remote castle where he soon comes upon a mystery involving killer eels and an arms tycoon conducting dangerous genetic experiments. Video retailer to pay $500,000 for copyright offence - Video retail chain TS Group and its suppliers have been found guilty of infringing copyrights from the movie, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. On Monday, the High Court ruled that the company had to pay all legal costs, damages and punitive damages for its actions. The total amount is expected to be about $500,000. In July 2003, TS Group started distributing VCDs of the movie at its retail outlets. The company claimed that the VCDs were legitimate parallel imports. [More]

'Pirates' stars set for high-seas junket - Pirates of the Caribbean stars Keira Knightley, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are taking to the high seas for real by joining a round-the-world yacht race, it was announced today. The Hollywood trio will help to crew a boat taking part in the gruelling Volvo Ocean Race. The Hobbit 'at least 3yrs away' - Oscar winning director Peter Jackson says it will be at least three years before he shoots The Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit. Jackson this weekend took a break from his busy schedule filming King Kong in Auckland, stopping by Sydney's Powerhouse Museum to check out the Lord of the Rings (LOTR) exhibition. A slimmed-down Jackson, who arrived in Sydney yesterday, was asked today how long it would be before he started production on The Hobbit. Baseball team in Iowa will be subject of film - A movie will be made about Norway High School's baseball team and its championship season. Production on "The Final Season" will begin in May. Filming will take place in Cedar Rapids, Norway and Marshalltown. The movie will star Sean Astin of "Rudy" and "The Lord of the Rings" movies, Sam Elliott and Katherine Ross. Astin will play Kent Stock, the head coach for the 1991 season. Stock took over as baseball coach during the championship season. [More]
